When I published my second book (Get the Life you Love and Live it), I wrote every day for an hour and then 3 months later engaged an editor for proof reading. She ripped the book to bits and I spent another month re-writing it. Somehow it still didn't resonate and one day almost by magic, the book came alive when we added the "and live it" bit to the book title. Suddenly it made more sense. So the learning was to engage an external professional editor, step away for a few days and revisit the title and / or objective of the book / article. It paid off for me and my self-published book was listed nationally in all the Borders stores in the UK:-) Some excellent tips here Suzannah – thank you.

When I published my second book (Get the Life you Love and Live it), I wrote every day for an hour and then 3 months later engaged an editor for proof reading. She ripped the book to bits and I spent another month re-writing it.

Somehow it still didn't resonate and one day almost by magic, the book came alive when we added the "and live it" bit to the book title. Suddenly it made more sense.

So the learning was to engage an external professional editor, step away for a few days and revisit the title and / or objective of the book / article.

It paid off for me and my self-published book was listed nationally in all the Borders stores in the UK:-)
